Do You Remember?…

1. Candy cigarettes OH ‘YEA!!! I can still remember the taste in my mouth. Nothing is as sweet as that stuff was! I wonder what it was…
2. Wax coke-shaped bottles with colored sugar water inside. How many of those little guys did I eat? Quite a few if I remember…
3. Soda pop machines that dispensed glass bottles. I also remember walking over broken glass barefoot as a child. Not fun!
4. Coffee shops with tableside juke boxes Naw, only as a novelty
5. Blackjack, Clove and Teaberry chewing gum Never was much of a gum person
6. Home milk delivery in glass bottles, with Cardboard toppers. Nope. Before my time.
7. Party lines. Oh man! that was like the beginning of chat rooms!
8. Newsreels before the movie. Nope.
9. P. F. Flyers Nope.
10. Butch wax Huh?
11. Telephone numbers with a word prefix … (Drexel-5505) Don’t people still do that?
12. Peashooters. Always wanted one as a kid. Had to settle for a real rifle when I turned 18. Had to eventually get an assault rifle when I was older just to get it all out of my system!

14. 45 RPM Records [Barely]
15. Green Stamps Huh?
16. Hi-fi’s Sad to say, yes
17. Metal ice cube trays, with levers I hated those things!
18. Mimeograph paper Hated them too.
19. Blue flash Bulbs Oh man! I loved looking at those things after they were used!! It was memorizing!!
20. Beanie and Cecil Huh?
21. roller skate keys Nope.
22. Cork pop guns ‘yea, had one for about…3 minuets!
23. Drive-ins My first scary movie: Orca and Shadow of the Hawk Man. Had nightmares for 6 months. I was 5 years old and watched the double-feature from the back seat!
24. Studebakers Sure!
25. Wash tub wringers Huh?
26. The Fuller Brush man Nope.
27. Reel-to-reel tape recorders Boy did I hate those things. I’m sure glad I got into music collecting in the computer age. I’m sure I’d have a massive collection of those tapes were I an adult then!
28. Tinkertoys “The foundation of my youth”
29. The Erector Set “The fabric of my adolescent years”
30. The Fort Apache Playset Nope.
31. Lincoln Logs “The building blocks of my juvenile days”
32. 15 cent McDonald hamburgers hmmm. I don’t think I was paying for them when they were that price.
33. 5 cent packs of baseball cards…with that awful pink slab of bubblegum I can still smell them!
34. Penny candy Nope.
35. 35 cent-a-gallon gasoline I remember 19 cent-a-gallon! I think I still remember 25 cents…

I WANT TO GO BACK TO THE TIME WHEN…………………

* Decisions were made by going: eeny-meeny-miney-mo. What?! That’s how I make decisions now!!
* Mistakes were corrected by simply exclaiming, “Do over!” What?! I still do that!!!!
* Race issue meant arguing about who ran the fastest. tell me about it!
* Money issues were handled by whoever was the banker in Monopoly. Now it’s the wife.
* Catching the fireflies could happily occupy an entire evening. Boy do I miss those nights in the back yard. [sigh]
* It wasn’t odd to have two or three “best” friends. Still do!
* Being old referred to anyone over 20. Still happens -only now they’re calling ME old and “sir”!!
* The net on a tennis court was the perfect height to play volleyball and rules didn’t matter. You can do that?!
* The worst thing you could catch from the opposite sex was ‘cooties. tell me about it!
* It was magic when dad would remove his thumb. What?! You mean that was a trick?!?!
* It was unbelievable that dodgeball wasn’t an Olympic event. I know!!
* Having a weapon in school, meant being caught with a slingshot. tell me about it!
* Nobody was prettier than mom. yup!
* Scrapes and bruises were kissed and made better. mm hmm!!
* It was a big deal to finally be tall enough to ride the big people ridesat the amusement park. yup!!
* A foot of snow was a dream come true. Never for me. I was the kid with the shovel.
* Abilities were discovered because of a double-dog-dare. Ahhhh… Great friends!!
* Saturday morning cartoons weren’t 30-minute ads for action figures. That was part of the show!
* No shopping trip was complete, unless a new toy was brought home. I know!! I still feel that way.
* Oly-oly-oxen-free made perfect sense. wah?
* Spinning around, getting dizzy and falling down was cause for giggles. Actually I get more laughs doing that now than ever!
* The worst embarrassment was being picked last for a team. I know!
* War was a card game. I loved that game!
* Water balloons were the ultimate weapon. They still are!
* Baseball cards in the spokes transformed any bike into a motorcycle. Now that’s something I wish I had learned about before I got rid of my bike.
* Taking drugs meant orange-flavored chewable aspirin. yup!
* Ice cream was considered a basic food group. Still is in my house!!
* Older siblings were the worst tormentors, but also the fiercest protectors. Never grew up with any.

If you can remember most or all of these, then you have lived!!!! I think they’re trying to say that you’re OLD if you can remember this stuff!!
