Well when the temps get below freezing here in the High Desert of Southern California, pipes start to freeze. Normally that’s not too big of a deal as we just keep the water flowing through the night. But this year, even the hot water pipes froze! That’s never happened in the 17 years I’ve lived here. Anyways, I had a pipe break under the foundation this past Thursday so I had to bypass the entire run to get water flowing again -and that meant nearly re-plumbing my entire house. I had to do it as a temporary fix since I’m planning on hiring a plumber for my remodeling project in the summer but it also means that the pipes will have to remain outside in the frigid cold for the rest of the winter…

Well that means GARDEN HOSE!!

More pictures are below if you care to see how it went down…

OMG am I a happy camper! My house is closed up to the outside dust and bugs, my computers and nice and cool now, I can run my $700 air purifier and know that it will stay clean! Life is good. Now everything is sooo quite at home ’cause there isn’t a bunch of fans running in the background all the time. My cieling fan isn’t running day and night so we can use the light switch to actually turn on a linght in the bedroom! Little things like this that make me smile…

Thanx to BitTorrent, I now have the entire Primus discography. This also makes me smile…Redneck rock. nice.

I just called and verified that my AC is now up and working! Two winters without a furnace and one hellish summer without any sort of cooling other than a few fans and open windows. God I can’t wait to go home!!! It’s been a long road and it’s finally over. Still I’m in a daze over the weekend. Another few days with little sleep and lots of allergy problems. I’m expecting a lot of that to go away after the house gets closed up and the air is finally filtered and controlled. A lot less dust and pollen will be floating into my place over the night.

My first real side job client is looking like he may back out of the deal. I’m not too upset about it as I was hoping to get out of it myself as I have bitten off more than I can chew anyways. I may still work with him to get some of the smaller jobs done but probably nothing after that. His accountant may be another story altogether though! If I can figure out VPN connections for her, I’ll have about 30 companies to set up for her! I sure hope I don’t screw that one up…

Well my airconditioning is getting installed today! Yayyyyy!! I’ve spend the entire summer with NO cooling of any kind other than some fans –Booo! Finally their coming out to do the deed and I’m so excited. I just hope my job doesn’t can me for not coming in two days in a row (although I did tell them about it first). I fear that I will spend all this cash and then be out of a job! Oh well. At least the house will be nice and cool for a change! Got some more eBay stuff in the mail yesterday, although it’s not for me but one of my clients. Now I get to start playing with hardware routers and VPN stuff. I hope I can figure out how this all works. It would be great for my career. I’m also hoping to meet with the landscaping company today that I’ve been in talks with for some side work using AutoCAD for them. If it’s good, that’ll mean some extra $$ I could earn even while commuting on the Metrolink! That will also mean that the laptop that I just sprung a ton of $$ for will pay for itself!

So I guess things are looking up although it’s all fairly tentative…I’d like to keep a optimistic viewpoint about it.
